The 91st Academy Awards concluded in Los Angeles on Monday morning with Regina King taking home the first award – Best Supporting Actress for her work in If Beale Street Could Talk. Alfonso Cuaron won Best Director for Roma, which also won Best Foreign Film and Best Cinematography. Best Picture, however, was taken by Green Book, which also won Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali and Best Original Screenplay. Olivia Colman won Best Actress for playing Queen Anne in The Favourite, beating the redoubtable Glenn Close. Rami Malek won Best Actor for his performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, which also won sound and editing awards. Crowd favourite Black Panther scored wins for Best Original Score, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. Shallow from A Star Is Born won Best Original Song, with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performing it live. The Guneet Monga-produced Period. End Of Sentence, set in India, won Best Documentary Short.
